This seminar will review the proper ways to effectively and safely locate a complete range of underground utilities, including metallic and non-metallic pipe; and will demonstrate the proper use of leak location devices. The session will begin with an explanation of how standard pipe and cable locators work. Afterwards participants will explore in detail the types of equipment available (older and newer technology) and how to effectively interpret what the equipment is detecting. Next, the types of problems that location and detection devices can experience in the field will be discussed – along with how to effectively troubleshoot these problems. The seminar will close with a discussion of equipment and procedures for the dechlorination of water that is discharged into the environment.
