| Course Description:
The Ground Water Rule (GWR) was promulgated in the Federal Register on November 8, 2006. The purpose of the GWR is to provide for increased protection against microbial pathogens, specifically viral & bacterial pathogens, in public Groundwater Systems (GWS). EPA is particularly concerned about GWSs that are susceptible to fecal contamination because these systems may be at risk of supplying water that contains harmful microbial pathogens. The GWR builds upon the Total Coliform Rule (TCR) by addressing the health risks of fecal contamination in community & non-community ground water systems which utilize ground water sources.
The purpose of this Training is to provide an in-depth explanation of the requirements of the GWR and to address the provisions with which systems will have to comply.
