Board of Directors
All NJWA Voting Members in good standing have the opportunity to join our Board of Directors. The NJWA Board of Directors supports the organization by providing oversight of our mission, vision, and financial activities. Elections for open positions are held during our Annual Membership Business Meeting held during our Annual Conference. Interest in serving in this capacity can be expressed by reaching out to any sitting Board Member or to the NJWA Executive Director.
Board Members serve for three-year terms and can be re-elected.
The next upcoming elections for our Board of Directors will take place during our 2026 Annual Conference Opening.
How to Become a Board Member
Board seats are filled through nomination and election by the membership — not appointment. Any NJWA Voting Member in good standing is eligible to serve.
- 1 Confirm your system or organization is a current NJWA Voting Member.
- 2 Express interest by contacting a sitting Board Member or the Executive Director.
- 3 Accept nomination — by the Board or from the floor — ahead of the Annual Business Meeting.
- 4 Stand for election by Delegate vote during the Annual Conference opening session.
Term Length
Board Members serve renewable terms, with continued service determined by membership vote at each election cycle.
Delegate Voting Members
The New Jersey Water Association Annual Business Meeting will be held during the opening session of our Management & Technical Conference.
Voting Member Eligibility
NJWA By-Laws, Article V, Section 1(a): Non-profit public water and wastewater, and other types of utilities, and municipalities with less than 20,000 population, engaged in the transportation, distribution, and/or sale of utility services in the rural areas of the State of New Jersey.
If your system meets this criteria and you attend the 2026 Annual Conference, you are considered a Delegate representing a Voting Member System at the Annual Business Meeting.
Delegate Designation
NJWA By-Laws, Article V, Section 2: Each Voting Member shall select a Delegate and an Alternate Delegate to represent the member at meetings of the Association.
Each Voting Member has one Delegate and one vote at meetings, provided the Delegate's name has been submitted to the Board of Directors' designated representative prior to the Annual Meeting.

Three (3) Board seats are up for election this year. The NJWA Board of Directors has nominated the following candidates:

Any additional nominations for a Board seat will be recognized from the floor before the vote.
