Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 9:00 a.m.– 12:00 p.m
Presenters include:
Mayor Bollwage, City of Elizabeth;
Jeffrey Gratz, Acting Deputy Director, Division of Environmental Planning and Protection, US Environmental Protection Agency, Region 2 will explain the upcoming and required Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for the Hackensack and Passaic Rivers and explain what the TMDL means for your town;
Chris Len, Staff Attorney for Hackensack Riverkeeper and NY/NJ Baykeeper, will discuss water pollution caps, uses of the rivers and regulated sources of pollution including combined sewer overflows, publically owned treatment works, and relic toxic pollution;
Commissioner Carter Strickland, NYC DEP, will talk about the recently signed agreement between NYC and NY State Department of Conservation to address NYC's Combined Sewer Outfalls and the innovative inclusion of green infrastructure projects to reduce combined sewer flow and save money;
A video address from Senator Frank Lautenberg;
Steven Gallo, Executive Director Bayonne MUA, will explain how Bayonne repurposed grey infrastructure;
Natural Resources Defense Council, Center for Market Innovation, will discuss stormwater financing; and,
The Rutgers Cooperative Extension Water Resources Group will present on Green Infrastructure Solutions for New Jersey's Urban Communities.
